Clydebank Development Wins Praise for Design
The Association's Cart Street Development has won the Glasgow Institute of Architects 2009 Design Award, beating off 23 other candidates in the category.
The top design award was given to our £5.1m development of 40 eco-flats, officially opened in August of this year by the Minister for Culture, Michael Russell.
Chair of the panel of judges, Martin McKay, said, "The gentle curving block deals with a challenging site with elegant simplicity".
Martin continued, "The judges commended a fine building, well built and robust that signals positive intent for housing in Clydebank".
Architects for the project were Elder & Cannon, Glasgow and the builders were CCG (Scotland) Ltd.
Eleanor McAllister, managing director of Clydebank Rebuilt, who were the project managers on the site, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Queens Gate housing won recognition in the Glasgow Institute of Architects 2009 Design Awards. This is a great achievement for Clydebank and highlights the importance of design-led regeneration and our partnership work with Clydebank Housing Association".
